I spent the day running around in taxicab shoes yesterday...first a quick stop at the TSE offices and then a meeting at DVF (have you ever tried to walk up their staircase in high heels?) and then off to Soho House to co-host the Joseph Abboud event. Basically I was on my feet for about 6 hours straight and it reminded me why I covet flats. Of course this inspired me to write about one of my favorite shoe lines, Maloles. I discovered it at Barney's about 2 years ago and I have worn my silver perforated ones to death. I always get compliments on them as they are pretty unique. You see one of the Maloles signatures is the use of strategically placed bows or bow-esque ribbons of fabric. The effect is not only girly and fun, but it is also hip and downtown feeling. Now of course, their ballet flats will look amazing on any woman, so don't think they are just for the LES set.
Mololes is a French brand named for its designer, Mololes Miracosta-Antignac. How much do you love her name? It just sounds like she should be a designer. It turns out that she used to be a well known stylist before launching her amazing shoe line, so she couples her love of design and fashion with a broad view of what women not only want, but need. The effect is comfort meets chic. The three best outlets for Maloles shoes online are Net-A-Porter, ShopBop and LaGarconne. Net-A-Porter has an amazing selection. I am absolutely in love with the pink Cornelia Flats with the black "bow" detail on the heel and I think the Zoelie Flats with the lace inset and bow are the perfect white summer ballerina. They are all so fab, I don't even know if I can choose.
The Molly Flats, the exact pair I own, are now on sale for a mere $109 on LaGarconne, but they only have a 37/7 left, so if you are the lucky size click now!!! I promise you will adore these. Zappos also carries the collection and happens to have a great pair in a aqua color on sale for $183.42. They have a modern origami-like bow on the side of the heel...another interesting placement. Secret...the aforementioned Cornelia Flat is on sale on Zappos for $189.47, but again only those fortunate size 37/7s have a shot.
Now for all you mommies out there...Maloles has the most precious mini-me collection, called Petites Maloles. They are beyond perfect for your super chic little ones!!!! LaGarconne usually stocks them, but I have to be honest they aren't easy to find online. Then again, I am not in the mommy set, so perhaps I just don't know where to look. I promise if I see them while I am out and about, I will let you know...
Anyway, thanks to Maloles for saving my feet in the months to come... Girls, you can never go wrong with a perfect ballerina. They look great with pants, jeans, dresses, skirts, shorts...need I say more???
