Let me just start by saying if you haven't been "Hooched" yet, you just don't know what you are missing!!! Explanation required??? You know how much I love vintage bags (if you don't, clearly you haven't been reading my BlackBook Mag articles) so when my friend the ridiculously fabulous Stan Williams showed me his new line, I completely flipped!!!
Hooch Bags by The Elegant Thrifter is such a unique line/concept/idea...basically Stan creates these to-die vintage gift bags, which of course you can buy for yourself, but are actually conceived as fab, custom creations you give to someone else. Stan scours thrift stores and flea markets for the best vintage bags and then basically "Hooches" them up. In other words, he fills them with all sorts of fun, little gifts like chocolate money, mini bottles of booze (if you desire) and
faux jewels. Of course, you can select the contents so that they reflect the lucky person on the receiving end...no more thoughtless gifts, this one has true meaning and yes a lot of personality to boot. A gift is supposed to make someone smile and I promise you a Hooch Bag will absolutely do the trick!!!
Now for my favorite part (other than the great bags), Stan names each bag after someone famous (the bags in the photos are Dolly and Molly). If you need to free your inner Marylin, Audrey or even Lindsey (yikes), there is a bag for you or for a loved one. The naming thing is such a genius concept as it allows you to really connect to the product and of course makes the shopping process so much more entertaining. It also brings each bag to life with a story. Take Molly for instance...all innocent
and woodsy, but get a nip of of tequila in her and she'll tell you some
stories! Love it!!!
I don't know about you, but if I have to set foot in another store (yawn) just to find a sea of ubiquity, I may have to find another passion. What Retail Therapy at Miraval Living intends to do, is to WOW you!!! Brands like Hooch Bags by The Elegant Thrifter will not only make you grin, but I promise will give you a reason to buy again.
