I dream of Jamin Puech bags!!! I have had a thing for them for years. I think I bought my first one 10 years ago and I still love it!!! Of course, you can imagine how excited I was when they agreed to participate in the Retail Therapy at 515 East 72nd Street/Miraval Living event.
I featured Jamin Puech recently in my Non-It Bag story, as it truly represents unique design in my book. The super chic, French design duo, Isabelle Puech and Benoit Jamin don't follow the trend pack, in fact to me they inspire the trends with to-die creations that are true fashion art. They bring a couture sensibility to handbag design...I can almost imaging twenty, old women (true fashion artisans) in the Jamin Puech atelier sewing each bead onto each bag.
The collection has a true, global, luxury vibe...part Boho Chic, part cosmopolitan sophisticate. You can see how inspiration is drawn from the East, the West, the South and the North with the use of both modern and traditonal materials such as raffia, macrame, horn, wood, sequins and beading. Isabelle and Benoit also create using a diverse range of techiniques such as embrodery, plaiting and brading...there is a sense of architecture in the designs, though a more fluid, romatic version. Each bag (by the way, they create about 100 a year) has a sense of history, drawing on their travels and experiences. You can see the love and care in every design, which elevates Jamin Puech to the highest level of the fashion food chain. The collection has an unwaivering and untouchable aesthetic and thus Jamin Puech remains one of the most interesting and highly creative luxury handbag lines in the marketplace today.
Jamin Puech will have about 30 of their most fab creations at the Retail Therapy event and since it is not as readily available on the UES, make sure you don't miss it. You won't have this kind of access ever again!!!
