Thank God the sun is out. I really try to never complain!!! I am a positive person 99% of the time, but I have to tell you that nothing brings out that 1% more than what seems like 20 days of rain in a row. OK, I suppose we have to pay a little bit for that brief taste of summer, which by now seems like last summer, but come on...WTF???
That said, as per usual, I always try to find a way to look at the sunny side of things when the 1% creeps in, so I decided to go in search of fab rain fashion. My love of style always brings out the best in me!! I know we all have our Hunter boots, but for some reason when the weather starts to get warmer, I just find them a bit heavy. Now I am not suggesting that you let your feet get soaked by foregoing your cute rain boots, I am just pointing out that you now have a Hunter alternative...the Tretorn Rigg.
I first saw them on a woman at the SPURR Sample Sale last week...she was weekend rain chic!!! Of course, I always ask people what/who they are wearing when I love something, so she turned me onto her newest secret. At only about $65, she bought them in two colors to suit her various fashion moods. She was wearing them with cute white shorts (OK, perhaps a little early for white shorts) and one of this season's fab drapey tees. Hers were the navy version, but I also found them in Yellow (my favs), Olive, Grey and White. They have the Tretorn version of a Swoosh on them, so they have a cool graphic feel. If solid is more your thing however, you can buy the Skerry instead..they come in Red as well as the other mentioned colors.
I love these as a Hunter option for two reasons...first they are shorter and wide-mouthed so look sweet with your summer dresses and minis. The wider opening also slims your leg and gives them a more casual feel. Finally, the rubber just feels lighter weight than the other rain boots on the market. They will become your Hamptons, Upstate, Jersey Shore weekend go-tos...no doubt. Now for the most important part...the Tretorn Rigg just makes me smile!!! They brighten the dreariest of days by adding a little nostalgia (I wore Tretorns when I was a teen) and whimsy to your wardrobe. They have the "cute factor" without being cutesy...leave the patterned wellies to the teens...these babies are 100% for us grown ups!!!
So rain rain stay away, but if you must come back, at least I have my Tretorn Riggs to make me see the sunnier side of things!!!
