Well here we go...the sales have started and have started BIG!!! Saks is already promoting 40% off as a "private sale"...private in the sense that it is open to anyone online and pretty much anyone who walks in the store. Neiman Marcus is running a 30% off one day sale that ends tomorrow. eTailers like ShopBop and La Garconne are quietly moving items to the sale rack...no advertisement yet. Kudos to Net-A-Porter (though you can now shop at OutNet) and yes, even Barneys for not having any apparent Spring sale...for the time being anyway. It saddens me to see sales starting so early. We used to have to wait until Memorial Day and even into early June for designer. But now, the stores are training us to wait to buy. I mean come on, I can get almost all of the Spring shoes I want on sale and it still isn't even warm enough to wear them. Why buy in February when you can grab all of the items you desire just in time to actually wear them and at crazy low prices to boot???
I thought I would share some of the best buys I have found so far. Lets start with Saks, the biggest sale offender. I found a great pair of Fendi cage booties (this season's must-buy style) for what the price should have always been $539. The snakeskin Loeffler Randall Ballerina that I featured a while back in my skin story is now $276.50. If you still haven't found your hot pink shoes yet, the Valentino Peep Sling is a great option at $486.50 (they also come in nude). It taps into the girly trend as well so gives double trend whammy!!! I have been coveting this Brian Atwood Tie Die Suede Pump all season and now it is more affordable at $402.50. The Valentino Triple Band Shoe is a sexy buy at $486.50...it will be the perfect shoe if you bought into the safari trend. If you have yet to buy your wedges this season, I really love the Juicy Studded Cork Wedge for only $175...great embellishment, vertiginous height. I always tell my clients that they need a great pair of red shoes in their closets...something classic that works with everything and Saks has done us a favor by marking down a cherry red Brian Atwood Peep Pump to $434. With only a 4 inch heel, it is practical yet still hot!!! Last but not least, if you already have your classic reds, then go for something a little more interesting like these Oscar De La Renta Peep Toe Bi-Color Pumps. The vamp is straw, the heel is textured patent...a little piece of art for $474.50.
Neiman Marcus's best pieces are from the Contemporary world. You know I am a dress girl so if you are too, NM is the place to go for great deals. I have been wanting this pewter Robert Rodriguez Kimono Dress and now it is only $187.00 (limited sizes). If you look good in pastels, this aqua Alice & Olivia Draped Silk Dress is gorgeous ($231)...yes, you also need the bod for it!! More from Robert Rodriguez...this pink Origami Sheath Dress is to die and at $277 a fashion steal!!! Again sizes are limited so click fast. Finally, back to my red fetish...I adore the oh so pretty Fiona Dress from Marc by Marc Jacobs for only $209. The bow is sweet and sexy...I would shorten it a bit to make it a bit more evening worthy, but it would also be a great work go-to as is.
Much more sale reviews coming your way ladies...I promise to cut through the deal clutter for you as the weeks go by. For now, take advantage of the early buys...shopping at full price is just so last year!!!
