You know I am all about GRACE!!! I named my company Grace Group afterall. I don't think I ever shared that story via blog and since everyone always asks, "why Grace?", then I suppose the inspiration is in order. Well you see, it is very simple...the word Grace just kept coming to me. My favorite coffee table book is GRACE Thirty Years Of Fashion At Vogue, by one of my industry heroes Grace Coddington...it sits prominently on my coffee table and was there well before I chose a name. Then my mother found a horoscope for my coming year and it was all about Grace...sure a little spiritual I suppose, but these are the small signs in life you have to pay attention to. Finally, Grace has so much to do with fashion that I just couldn't resist and Grace Group was born. OK, don't worry, I am not going to bore you with more details about my company, as I know you read The Gift Of Style for my fashion obsessions, so let me segway into the real reason for this story/set-up and let me introduce you to my newest Grace fetish, Winifred Grace.
Winifred Grace is an absolutely gorgeous jewelry line that I recently discovered...so me. The line has been around for several years, since 2003, yet somehow never made it on my radar. I have admitted before to being a bit of a jewelry novice, so perhaps this is why. Designed, by Chicago-based, Winifred Grace Gundeck, the line is inspired by "visually rich textures and patterns found in everything from nature to indigenous art, tapestries and adornments". To me it the perfect combination of well yes, graceful lines and something slightly more hard edged...feminine and sort of dowtown chic, my favorite combo. My music reference would be not so much rock-n-roll as pop perhaps, yet not "blingy" pop. Too many analogies for you, well let me put it simply, these fab jewels have universal appeal and are not only 100% wearable, but yes, statement making.
My favorite pieces are perhaps the most unique made up of strands or clusters of oxidized clear crystals, rhinestones, metals and pearls. They almost feel like powerful little starbursts...almost like something exploded in a perfectly symmetrical fashion. I am also deeply attracted Winifred Grace's chain pieces which are a mix of oxidized sterling silver chains, 14k gold filled chains, and oxidized clear crystal rhinestone chains. They are super hip, yet again really accessible...not too rocker. Too me they are a more modern version of wearing a cuff or multiple bangles as they really pack a powerful punch of style. She just relaunched her website, so be sure to check out all of her gorgeous creations. Of course, if you would rather touch and feel first, you can stop Debut on Mulberry street in Nolita.
To wrap up, let me give you a quick definition of Grace: seemingly effortless beauty or charm of movement, form, or proportion. This pretty much sums up how I feel about Winifred Grace!!!!
