Dresses, dresses and more dresses...I can never have too many. I just love the ease of only having to accessorize. Several of my clients just don't want to fuss every morning as they get ready for work, so my number one style tip is and will continue to be to just "dress" it up. That said, once in a blue moon I do find tops that I also believe are versatile enough to just make me forget my dress obsession, if even for a minute.
One of my absolute favorite new lines By Malene Birger has just the summer blouse/top solution. I am madly in love with her Armory Top ($215). It is perfect in my fashion book...100% cotton - check, boho chic - check, rich color -check and subtle embellishment - check. I also adore the shape...slightly boxy with an elasticized waistband, which makes it not only chic, but super versatile. It is almost the anti-dress, meaning it can do the same trick as your fav go-to frock as far as making getting dressed effortless. Are you thinking, I don't get it? If you are, here are some quick styling tips...
-Wear it with your favorite skinny jeans and cute ballet flats in a corporate casual environment. Don't forget to layer up those bangles. If your workplace is stuffy, wear it with a great pair of trousers, some heels...and once again don't forget the bracelet/s.
-It is the right shape for just about any skirt, so if you are having trouble finding the right top to wear (a VERY common problem), the Armory Top could do the trick. Make sure to wear high heels though as you need the height balance with the fuller shape on top and on the bottom.
-Sex it up at night with any slim bottom, and some hot cage sandals, a great bag, a statement cuff. If you really have a fab body, wear it with some shorts or leggings and top off with a longer boyfriend jacket...you can really play with a power shoe here.
-This probably goes without saying, but please don't wear a necklace with this top!!! It is already embellished...too much is always too much!!!
-This style looks good on just about every body type. That said, if you have heavy upper arms, I would avoid it, as the armhole cut will make you look broader/thicker.
Now some of you with lots of disposable income are probably already investing in your fall wardrobe and are tired of reading about my hot weather finds. So if you are one of the die hard "season" girls, I am here to tell you that this top will take you through nine months of the year. Layer it up with a great long sleeve tee and let the tee peek out of the bottom for a casual look, wear it under any jacket, rock it with those over-the-knee Chloe boots I just blogged about and you will be autumn fab!!!!
OK, yes I will most likely, not forgo coveting all of the lovely little frocks that I find in the fashion universe, but what is the saying...man (or in this case woman) cannot live by bread alone!!!
