Another 4th of July Weekend is upon us...right now the weather looks like it might do us a favor...fingers crossed. Anyway, I know how you stress about what to wear on these holiday weekends, so I am going to take this week to give you some pointers/recommendations whether city, beach or country is your ultimate destination. I am never a big fan of any kind of costume (other than on Halloween), but for some reason the patriotism in me rises on this extraordinarily festive holiday and I am a firm believer in donning good ole red, white and blue.
I have been obsessed with Catherine Malandrino's Flag Dress since she introduced it way back in the early days of her collection. A little kitschy and whimsical perhaps, but still super chic and sophisticated. The pattern is strategically designed so it really looks more graphic print than flag toga...quite modern and interesting actually! The silhouette is all American, classic shirt dress, so it really looks great on most body types. It is 100% silk and 100% flowy and feminine, so you will definitely make a sweet "I love my country" statement.
Perfect for work this week if you want to instill a little patriotism in your office and of course so city-right, if your plans take you to a roof top for the fireworks. I would also wear it to a Hamptons house party or BBQ, just to a have a little fun. It demands red shoes and limited accessories, so please do our flag justice! Always keep it simple when you wear a strong print.
We are living in tumultuous times, whether abroad or at home, so we need to truly celebrate our heritage this holiday!!! The beauty about fashion is that it allows us to show our emotions, to bare a little bit of our souls. I say let the world know you are proud to be an American and embrace some sort of patriotic dress this July 4th...you will feel an even deeper connection to the celebration!!!!
