OK I am back after a little bloggers vacation...after writing for almost 300 days, minus a few weekends, I needed a little break. That said, I am refueled and ready to go, so without a lot of useless set-up, let me introduce you to my newest find...L'Agence.
Where do I begin, as I love everything about this LA-based line. It was just launched for pre-Spring 2009, so barely a year old and it is already starting to turn heads. The concept is so genius, I can't believe someone hasn't done it yet...you see, the line doesn't have one designer. Instead it is designed every season by a new designer, well actually not even a designer, but a famous stylist. Let's face it...aren't stylists really the creative force behind the fashion industry. They are the one's that make things happen...in other words, they create the dream that we buy into. They transform all of the beautiful clothes that our fashion artists create and they turn them into what we see on the runway, in the pages of magazines and on our favorite style icons...celebs. They are the hidden talents that make or break style and until Rachel Zoe emerged as a force to be reckoned with, we didn't even know they really existed, or didn't care.
L'Agence, french for The Agency was founded by famed LA agent, Margaret Maldonado. She oversees the creative direction of the line each season, but gives her stable of fab stylists like Simone Harouche, and Maryam Malakpour license to create the most covetable clothes around. The collection has that LA ease that we all love...a heavy dose of great basics infused with a high-fashion, super cool vibe. Highlights from the new Fall collection include a vest with star studs for $350, a merino wool cape sweater for $440, a long dolman sleeve mini dress for $175 and the perfect harem pant for $145. Their basic tees and rocker-meets-boho chic accessories are also great and provide so many options to layer and well yes, play "stylist" all on your own. The best place to find the collection is at Ron Herman...since this is where the line originally launched, they buy almost every piece.
I don't know about you, but the fact that someone new puts their design touch on the collection every season makes me all the more hungry to see what will come next!!! This line will always be fresh and always inspired...no room for brand boredom. L'Agence is 100% one to watch ladies!!!!
