So I did a little "low" research last week and hit Topshop, H&M, Forever 21 and Zara to see the beginnings of Fall. If you recall, I gave Topshop a pretty dismal rating when it first opened, so I think it is only fair to make it the centerpiece of this week's blog. Suffice it to say, Topshop has really started to redeem itself...in my eyes anyway. I wanted to love it, so I am happy to report that I think they could be poised to devour H&M for lunch!!!
H&M looked super cheap and super tacky...ouch!!! Yes, it has always been on the cheap side, but once in a blue moon I find that great piece that people stop me in the street to inquire about. Sadly it also seemed off trend...I always tell my clients to use these types of stores when they feel compelled to buy trendy (80s is a great example), so that they don't waste a lot of money on items that look so last year in about three months. I didn't even find one item that I want to share with you...so disappointing.
That said, Topshop hit the pre-Fall selection out of the park...sure, it is still a little 80s over the top, but I found at least 10 on-trend items that not only would I buy immediately, but that I also think you should consider buying immediately. Here they are...
The Boyfriend Blazer...all under $200.
Sequins and Shine...all under $200.
Shredded and Distressed...all under $150
Faux Fur...all under $200.
80s Insipred Skirts...all under $100
Yes some of the items are a little daring/crazy, but remember Topshop is a TREND go-to, not the place you buy your sophisticated best. It is all in the way you mix these pieces into your wardrobe, so have fun and play and don't be so serious. Being somewhat trendy is never a bad thing, but never spend a lot of money on items that are here today, gone tomorrow.
Round one of the Topshop Wars goes to Topshop...knockout!!!
