You know that I am a big fan of splurging on shoes...I think if you are going to spend your hard earned cash, then you really do get what you pay for. That said, I also understand that paying $900 and up for a pair of Louboutins seems absolutely ludicrous!!! Luckily the Topshops and the Steve Madden's of the world have stepped up (pun intended) their games and are delivering damn good knockoffs of some of our most coveted brands...I am not suggesting that there aren't wear and tear issues with our "low" friends, just that if you can't spend the big bucks right now and really want a piece of this season's must-have trends, then TS and SM are the best opening priced options.
Now on to the battle...I really did try to find you a winner, but the reality is that both TS and SM are doing a pretty good job, so shoe wars ends in a big fat draw. Here are some of the head to head winners...
So can you get away with the "lower" options, without your shoes looking a wee bit on the cheap side? Well, here is some advice...when it comes to boots, YES! When you start getting into the Louboutin knockoff area, be careful, as some less expensive high heels can look a little unfinished. My advice is to keep it simple...too much detail can show quality issues. When in comes to the Q-factor (quality), Topshop has a leg up on Steve Madden. That said, my Steve Madden shoes always seems to get the most compliments even from my hard core fashionista friends...go figure ladies.
So what is the moral of the story...don't be afraid to offset some of your fall fashion budget by going "low"...buy smart...keep it simple...stick to the trends...spend big on your wardrobe building shoes.
Alas, we have come to the end of the Topshop Wars. Overall, Topshop has had a pretty good week. They have now been upgraded from a dismal C+ rating to a solid B+ rating in my book...however, still some work to do to completely win me over!!!
